JAKARTA (7 August 2011) – The Indonesia national side have added four new trainees as well as announcing Listiadi as the new assistant to chief coach Wim Rijsbergen – ahead of their third round clash in the 2014 World Cup qualifiers next month.
The four new trainees joining the Indonesia training camp in Cilegon in Banten are Ian Louis Kabes (winger with Persipura), I Made Wirawan (goalkeeper with Persiba), Hariono (midfielder with Persib) and Ambrizal (defender with Persija).
“The main issue at this moment is on how to prolong the sustainability and also the physical endurance of the players which is still below standard,” said Wim.
“It is for that reason that we have to look at getting a dedicated physical trainer to help the players improve on their VO2MAX.”
In the meantime Listiadi – Wim’s assistant at his former club PSM Makassar – have taken over the post from Rachmad Darmawan, who has since taken over as the chief coach of the Indonesia Under-23 team, preparing for the SEA Games at the end of the year.
Indonesia are in Group E of the qualifiers against Iran, Qatar and Bahrain and where they will open their campaign against Iran in Teheran on 2 Sept 2011.
